What does "The device, \Device\Harddisk0\D, has a bad block" mean and how can I correct it?
My computer is running really slow, especially when accessing the Internet using IE. I ran a defrag and noticed only a very minor improvement. I looked at an error report and this error message was referenced dozens of times a day over the last several days. "The device, \Device\Harddisk0\D, has a bad block" What does this mean and what steps can I take to correct it? I have a Dell laptop Latitude D400 and we replaced the hard drive about 4 months ago. Please advise. Thank you. 1 person needs an answerI do too

It means that your hard drive is failing. Back up your data and replace the drive.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

I am not sure if anybody answers me since I failed to google anything, but I am very curious what the ____ does that letter D mean? I saw this error several times on our company computers and there is always one physical harddrive with a C: partition.DISKPART> list volume Volume ### Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info ---------- --- ----------- ----- ---------- ------- --------- -------- Volume 0 D DVD-ROM 0 B Volume 1 C system NTFS Partition 119 GB Healthy SystemWhy does the event say \Device\Harddisk0\D ? This confuses so many people... Not mentioning that this error usually means something different then a bad drive... Thank you
